Normalised Site Insertion Loss

Normalised Site Insertion Loss (NSIL) measurements are carried out over the frequency range 9 kHz – 30 MHz in accordance with the following document:
CISPR 16-1-4 AMD2:2023
This document specifies a maximum deviation of ±4 dB between 9 kHz and 30 MHz as an acceptance criterion for the NSIL measurements.
For the Normalised Site Insertion Loss Site measurements, a series of transmission loss measurements are carried out in the chamber using broadband loop antennas.
Any reflections from the chamber construction or absorbing materials will result in a deviation of the NSIL measurement when compared to the theoretical NSIL.
A single site insertion loss measurement is insufficient to pick up all possible reflections from the enclosure or the absorbing material and therefore the NSIL measurements are repeated at five positions with three different orientations of the loop antennas.
